Hi, I’m Dan — a security consultant, author, and someone who didn’t grow up obsessed with tech.
I started this site because I believe cybersecurity shouldn’t be intimidating. You don’t need to be a hacker, a coder, or a “sweat” to protect yourself online — or to build a career in this space. I wrote Don’t Sweat: How to Get Into Cyber to prove exactly that.
My own path into cybersecurity wasn’t traditional. I wanted to study Sports Science, chased a career in professional sport, and only pivoted to tech after an injury forced me to rethink everything. I didn’t fall in love with cybersecurity overnight — but I saw the opportunity, and I stuck with it. Since then, I’ve worked across support, architecture, project delivery, and now consultancy at one of the UK’s largest banks.
This blog is for people like me — people who want clear, practical advice on staying safe online, without the jargon or fearmongering. Whether you’re a freelancer, a parent, or just someone who wants to stop reusing the same password everywhere (we’ve all done it), I’ve got you.
Here, you’ll find:
- Simple guides to protect your digital life
- Honest reviews of tools that actually help
- Insights from the field — not just theory
If you’re curious about cybersecurity, want to improve your digital habits, or are even thinking about a career in the field, welcome. You don’t need to sweat it — just start.
